In 2017, carsales engaged Ipsos to revisit their 2013 study The Journey to Vehicle Ownership, bringing the new car buying journey to light for the Australian marketplace.
The intention of the new study is to explore what the journey to vehicle ownership looks like four years on; what’s changed, what’s stayed the same, and what the automotive future looks like for Australian consumers.
The new research uncovers the four stages consumers experience when on their path to purchasing a new vehicle, down from the five identified in 2013.
Discover more about the stages and what the activities and emotions of consumers are at each stage, such as what role digital sources play, as well as the role of the dealership in the vehicle purchase journey.
The research also takes a glimpse into the future and what consumers believe to be where their purchase journey is headed, as well as their thoughts on advances in automotive technology.
